Suttons Seeds - Sweet Basil
Previous
Chives (Allium schoenoprasum) are one of the most useful perennial herbs for the kitchen garden. Once established, they return year after year and can be harvested repeatedly throughout the growing season. The slender, hollow green leaves have a mild onion flavour and are used fresh in salads, soups, omelettes, potato dishes and as a garnish.
Suttons chives produce attractive purple-pink flowers in early summer which are also edible. Plants form tidy clumps and are well-suited to growing in containers, raised beds or as a border edge in a vegetable garden. They prefer a sunny position and well-drained soil.
Sow: February to May (indoors) or March to June (outdoors). Harvest: From approximately 8 weeks after sowing. Average seed count: see pack for details.
Supplied as: 1 x seed pack.
